Based on the Innovation Genome model, there are four worldviews of innovation that function as fundamental forces, or competing values, that work in different ways to produce innovation. Each dominant worldview approaches innovation in a different way. Their differences produce friction and challenges, but also sparks of creativity and complementary approaches and skills. In our CONSTRUCTIVE CONFLICT™ program, there are two types of clashes between the four worldviews, one around the magnitude of innovation, and the other around the speed/momentum of innovation. The two types of conflict are positive because they produce new, hybrid forms of innovation that wouldn’t be possible without the interaction of these diverse viewpoints. Organizations need all four types of innovation to continue to innovate. The goal is to use the advantages of each worldview at the right time. The Innovatrium offers CONSTRUCTIVE CONFLICT™ business consultation, courses, trainings, and workshops on how to assess for each organization’s unique worldviews and how to harness the power of team members and groups to create the next innovative breakthrough.
